If the 123 HP Officejet 6812 Setup Printer is turned off while printing, an warning message should be shown on your computer screen; otherwise the printer-provided HP program can not be properly installed. To fix this, completely uninstall the HP software and then reinstall the HP software.
Examine the cable connections
Make sure both ends of your USB cable or Ethernet cable are secure. If the printer is connected to a network please check:
Monitor the printer’s wireless connection
- Make sure you don’t use a phone cord to connect the printer.
- Track wireless link on the printer
If the printer has a wireless link to the network, check that the blue Wireless Light is on and not irregular. A blinking light means communication problems occur between the printer and the network.
Monitor any personal firewall software installed on the computer
The personal firewall software is a security program which saves a computer from intrusion. The firewall can therefore block contact between the printer and the machine. If there is a difficulty interacting with the printer, consider removing the firewall temporarily. If the issue persists the firewall is not the source of the problem of communication. Switch the firewall back on.
Reboot the printer and the computer
If the printer still fails to respond, turn off the printer and the machine and switch them back on.
Track the location and length of the USB cable to the printer. Often high electromagnetic fields (such as those generated by USB cables) can cause minor distortions to the prints. Also, to reduce the impact of these electromagnetic fields, it is important that you use a USB cable that is less than 3 metres long (9.8 feet).
